Saint of Our Church

The Ascension of Our Lord Jesus Christ

Holy Ascension Serbian Orthodox Church is dedicated to the Feast of the Ascension of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, one of the Great Feasts of the Orthodox Church. This holy feast commemorates Christ’s glorious ascension into heaven forty days after His Resurrection, completing His earthly ministry and revealing the promise of our salvation.

The Meaning of the Ascension

Christ’s Victory and Our Hope

The Ascension of Christ is not a departure, but a fulfillment. Having conquered death through His Resurrection, our Lord ascended bodily into heaven, seating human nature at the right hand of God the Father. Through the Ascension, Christ opens the way for humanity to share in divine life and prepares His disciples for the coming of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost.

This sacred event reminds the faithful that our true home is the Kingdom of Heaven and that we are called to live a life lifted toward God in faith, humility, and love.

Our Calling as a Parish

Living the Ascension

As a parish dedicated to the Holy Ascension, we are called to reflect the meaning of this feast in our daily lives. We strive to lift our hearts and actions toward God, grow in holiness, and bear witness to Christ through worship, service, and love for one another.

Inspired by the Ascension of our Lord, Holy Ascension Serbian Orthodox Church seeks to be a beacon of faith, hope, and unity for all who enter our doors.

Icon of the Ascension

A Visual Proclamation of Faith

The icon of the Ascension reveals the spiritual meaning of the feast. Christ is shown ascending in glory, blessing His disciples, while the Theotokos stands at the center, surrounded by the Apostles. The icon proclaims the unity of heaven and earth and the hope of humanity’s glorification through Christ.

Through this sacred image, the faithful are reminded that Christ remains with His Church, guiding and sanctifying her until His glorious return.
